It was an interesting read, and one I needed that day. I was reminded again of how lucky I am to have a mom that's so tuned in to my needs. How does she do it with 6 kids and 10 grandkids? I know they all feel the same way about her.
Then, my favorite part of the day yesterday was going to church to have Logan dedicated to God. It was so sweet to have a blessing said for him in church, and I really took to heart the things the pastor talked to us about as parents. We have been trusted with this special spirit from God to help raise and nurture him, and we need to have God as the #1 priority in our lives. Logan needs to see that God is our #1 priority. It was very special. Here's a picture of him in his cute little dedication outfit.

During church we were told to tell someone next to us a favorite memory of our mom. It's kind of hard to think of a specific memory right there on the spot, but I tried. Some of my fondest memories were actually when I was sad (usually about a boy...I was a VERY boy crazy girl!). I remember more than once, laying on my mom's bed with her, me crying, and her just telling me stories from her childhood. I think what she was really trying to teach me was that stuff right then just didn't matter that much, but I loved hearing about her life too, and it helped take my mind off of my current problems. I always felt like she was available to me. Even now, from so far away, even though I miss her terribly, I know I can call her every single day (and believe me, I do!) and I know I'm important to her. It's a good feeling to know that.
So, on this my "kind of first Mother's Day" I'm so happy to be a mom, but I'm also so happy to have a wonderful mom that continues to teach me and be there for me. I love you mommy.
