The Beginning of Blogging/ Chris's Job

At our wedding reception, I was asked if I would start blogging now, maybe because being married means I have more of a life to report, maybe because moving across the country made me more removed from my friends. Either way here I am, trying it out. We'll see if I can keep up with it, and if I have anything interesting enough to say as the weeks move along.
What's on my mind tonight is how proud I am of my husband. I have always admired his work ethic, but I've noticed it even more as we're settling into a new place. I've never seen him start from scratch first hand, and I always love when we accomplish something together and it happens kind of as a product of us being together. When we arrived in Alexandria, I already had a job lined up, a very good job where I've been fortunate enough to have a boss that goes above and beyond her duties. She's helped us find a place to live, helped us look for a job for Chris and provided Chris with maintenance opportunities around the school so we have some money coming in. But, it took Chris a couple weeks more than me to find this job he's started now. I actually found it on craigslist, filled out the resume, and sent it in, but after that, it was all him. About 5 minutes after his first interview, they called him up and said "There's just something about you that we love, we're willing to work with a schedule that makes it possible for you to see your kids too. We like your personality so much we'd like you to work in the front of house."

He took it, because he wants to work and provide for his family no matter what, but he was skeptical about doing the front of house, he's much more comfortable in the back, cooking. After about a week of training, they decided to let him work in the back because he has such a great attitude no matter what, and they knew that's what he really wanted. As he trained this last week in the kitchen, he just had this twinkle in his eye, and he would come home with news like "they don't know which station to put me at in the kitchen because I'm too good at all of them." Anything that can build my husbands self esteem is such a great thing, and I love knowing that other people see the great things in him that I see everyday. I know he's moved and had to start his life and job over a few times before and I know that he does it no matter what because he's a wonderful man that knows the value of providing for his family and being part of a marriage team. But seeing it first hand for myself has given me a new love and admiration for the man I married.

So handsome in his chef jacket!

Check out the website to his job on the right, and if you're in town, stop by!
